The school has a right to detain students. A student may be detained as a punishment from the end of school for up to one hour. In extreme circumstances these arrangements may be modified after discussion between parents and the Headteacher, Deputy or Assistant Headteachers. The Governors and the Local Authority have given their full support to this and any student put into detention for a detainable offence must complete that detention. Parents are responsible for ensuring the safety of their child after they leave detention.
Parents will be informed, through a written note in the student's personal planner at least 24 hours prior to the detention or by letter if no planner is available. If a student truants he/she will be expected to make up the time missed.
