Holiday Time

Details of school holidays are given in this booklet. Where it is essential for parents to take holidays during term time they should notify the school well in advance of the proposed holiday, by means of a holiday request form obtainable from the school office. This should be returned to the Headteacher requesting permission and accompanied by a copy of a booking form.

Two weeks holiday in any one school year is the maximum permitted, but this should not be taken unless it is absolutely unavoidable since many students experience difficulties in catching up on work missed.

In these circumstances it is important that students entered for GCSE examinations check dates, as holidays cannot be accepted as a reason for absence from examinations. Permission will not normally be granted during Year 11.

A calendar is provided at the start of the year which identifies important dates in the school year such as holidays, parents' evenings and teacher training days.
