What do the school Governors do?

The primary function of the Governing Body is to help raise educational standards and performance at Canon Lee. The Governing Body meets to co-ordinate and communicate activities twice each term. However, the more detailed work is carried out by the three main Committees which are Strategic, Learning and Site.

A Performance Management Committee works with the Headteacher to ensure that the priorities and objectives are set for the year and achieved. In addition throughout the course of a school year the Governors will be asked to participate in other important activities such as recruitment, disciplinary, government assessment and new policy implications.

Governors are not paid for the time they provide and each governor is representative of their category, E.g. Staff, Community but does not represent the majority view of that stakeholder group.
