Citizenship

Our department is concerned about helping students to develop open, sensitive and reflective approaches to understanding the modern day world's varied religious practices, values, beliefs and lifestyles, and to be able to relate these to their own experiences.
All schemes of work are designed to meet the requirement of the York Agreed Syllabus.

In Year 9, a Cross Curriculum approach has been adopted to provide students with opportunities to investigate issues which are an integral part of life in the 21st Century. Subjects involved in the delivery are; Religious Education, Art, Drama and Music. The topics studied also provide a solid knowledge on which we can build when the students begin their GCSE work.

Topics studied are:

Suffering and Evil
Conflict and Peace
Marriage and the family.
